What are unique opens and unique click-throughs?
When you view an email report inside the application, you'll see statistics for Total Opens, then Unique Opens. The same goes for Total Clicks, then Unique Clicks.
What's the difference between unique and total?
"Unique" means we removed duplicate opens or duplicate clicks by a user.
For example, you sent an email to one single recipient. However, that person opened that email 100 times. The application would report that as 100 "total opens," but only one unique open because a single user opened it.
If that user clicked the same link 10 times, that would register as"10 total clicks" but only "1 unique click." If that user clicked 10 different links one time each, that would register as "10 unique clicks."
Both are important in different respects. A large amount of total opens means there's some content in your email that users are going back to. A large amount of unique opens means your messaging is ringing a bell with your recipient list. As always, establishing levels of success for your various metrics is important for evaluation of reports and future successful campaigns.
